America: The Play! The Play About America

From 1776 to today one thing has eluded Americans—who are we? What, in short, makes someone an American? A shared history? A commitment to American ideals? A belief in the American Dream (if we can even agree on what that means anymore)? As we seemingly grow more divided, our national identity is more fluid than ever. Enter the students of Iowa's L.E.E. High School. When their drama club gets shut down for doing controversial plays, the students take it upon themselves to answer the question: “What does it mean to be an American—now, then, and in-between?”
